Do you often play puzzles? I don’t think, because they come out quite rarely, we will talk about puzzles. About those of them who fell into my soul, in my heart, or just in memory (but in the most “pleasant” or something, from its departments). About those who pulled me into my abyss, after I gave them my evening, and there are still gnawing.

So, let’s go! I start with a casual and painless level, reaching the ninth circle of hell:

Parallax! Puzzle conquering your attention with its interesting appearance and mechanics. If you tell me that an unusual appearance in puzzles is generally the most ordinary part, then I will only partially agree with you. The same The Witness and Trine (yes, it is not completely “puzzle”, and that?) look gorgeous and bright, but Parallax represents a completely different side of the design-it is black and white.

And this style is very important: the color plays in a gameplay (*OP, pun*) a very important role, dividing parallel to reality into, in fact, black and white. The transition between realities is made using hefty – most often, moving – portals. And this is the basis of the game. If in the starting white dimension you do not see the lever you need, then you go and look for it in black. There are usually several portals in each of them, so in order to reach the finish line, you have to (in addition to pressing the levers) to jump into those in which you have not yet been.

The plot is not that lame-he, he see, did not even die to this game and died somewhere else at the stage of the brainstorming at the beginning of development. Unpleasant, but not fatal. Think for yourself what story you can spy on the game, where the nameless creature is worn on parallel worlds (size 50×50 meters), simultaneously pulling levers, cubes and flying through the abysses on the traps?

The game looks beautiful and simple; Each detail shows that the objects necessary for passage do not merge with the common color of “reality”. Played too well, although quite simple. The game does not have time to tighten into yourself, as you already observe the menu in which you see that all levels have been passed. For insufficient complexity and length, the game receives the farthest corner of the May Hart.

With his left hand, the robot can make the cube drive into the wall so that it does not stick out from it, and it, on the contrary, puts forward the cube so that it becomes a bar that it becomes a bar. And thus you have to interact with everything that falls by the arm. Typically, most objects are the same cubes, but all of them are different colors and perform different functions. Cubes of the same color are extended from the plane, the second – work as a spring (they are hung up with the left hand), others – peculiar levers, etc.D.

There are much more levels here than in Parallax, moreover, they are more difficult and interesting here. Then you need to twist the room, then the springs are sorted out to jump to the right place, then move the walls. From every room you have received, you get an incredible pleasure that was not even in Portal. Q.U.B.E. – An absolutely amazing puzzle that I recommend to all those who are ready to sit at the screen for several evenings, shedding later and blood.

Now is the time to talk about the game that your brains that turn and do not chop, like Q.U.B.E. She cuts them out with a half -toned tesak from your head, like *a famous pyramidal guy *, lays on the table and grinds the agonizing gyrus there. And you just have to watch this and wait for the end. Apotheosis, ideal concentrate and the fifth essence of horror and twisted prisoners (excuse me, could not resist the pun).

Of course, we are talking about Silent Hill.

Yes, yes, I already hear screams: “But Silent Hill is a horror! Why is he even stuck here?”. Of course, a quiet hill is a horror, and a good. He has a very difficult atmosphere, thanks to which you are scared of every rustle. But the game would not receive neither atmosphere, nor fear, nor even a good name without its amazing puzzles. Those who do not agree with me, I usually plug my mouth, put on their headphones and force them to get a gold medal in the music class of the Midvich school.

Silent Hill does not always have separate rooms under the puzzles: it often comes out that the path from point A to point B is no less puzzling than the interpretation of intricate poems written on the hospital wall of Alchehemilla. There is no need to go far for an example, because at the very beginning of the game there is such a situation. You need to get to the next street to reach Midvich’s school, and all the roads are broken and lead to a bottomless foggy abyss. And how to be here? Try, without a manual, find a house with a dog booth and three keys to it to finally get into the right part of the city! And tips are everywhere, but you need to be able to see and understand them.

By the way, this is the same Konura, which has become a meme due to the fault of the game design (and the scriptwriters, too, which is only worth the hero’s replica and without a dog).

After this testing of nerves and patience, you come to school itself. And then the Troil Orgy begins with your head. The hero is greeted by three leaflets written in blood. On each of them is a very intricate description of the hero’s further actions and the indicated time that serves to determine the procedure for performing tasks (on the other hand, neither one nor the other looks like that, but more like a crazy notes with dials).

Of the three puzzles from these notes, most of course, of course, is remembered by the one associated with the piano – I already talked about this riddle above.
“Song of Birds without a Voice” at one time simply pushed me out while I was daring what “pelicans” and “silent pigeons” are talking about. One of the most difficult puzzles in the history of the series and even more so – for the whole game. No matter how much I try, and I did not succeed in drawing up the correct key of keys on the piano (I confused blood on them), although I sat for several hours with a notebook, drawing the diagrams and conventions of the “birds”. Unforgettable ..

It’s a pity that I can’t tell about all interesting riddles. There are really a lot of them here. But not all are, there is an infernal nonsense, which is solved only by the method of scientific poke. Example: opening the door in the boiler room in front of the first boss by twisting the valves. Well, in life, you will never understand that you need to turn the left valve to the left twice and the right one in any direction once.

I think that you perfectly understand why it took me the most bucks on Silent Hill. I love him with all my heart, not only as a game, but also as an occasion to cooperate with my brother at the screen of an old TV with Sonya and shake with fear when a hellish schoolboy with a knife jumps out of the corner and squeals. And the quiet hill trains an excellent effect, although I understood it only after many years. Modern indie tutors, although good, are good to the space level of Silent Hill as to the moon (another pun).
